ABP/Pallas Foods: Dexter Steer kill - 2017

The slughter date for Dexter Steers this Autumn is 29th September. The price paid will be €5.50 per Kg for steers under 30 months. They must be Birth Notified with the DCS, be grass fed and from a Quality Assured Herd.  Last year both suppliers and Pallas Foods were satisfied with the kill out, but supply is the issue. We have promised them 100 animals this year and there are only 800+ births per annum at present. All the females are being kept for breeding.

Due to a change in date for slaughter, from 20th to 29th September, any animal that reaches 30 months during those 9 days will still be acceptable. Members who have steers ready for slaughter should contact their local co-ordinator:
  • Munster: Tom McDonald – 086 2544655
  • Leinster: Sean Flannery – 087 2416646
  • Connaught/Ulster: Oliver Davy – 087 9135510
